Magnolia "Athene"



Excellent variety that originates from New Zealand, one of so-called "Jury hybrids". Small to middle-sized tree that produces large "cup and saucer" shaped blooms 20-30 cm in diameter. Flowers have ivory white, silky textured tepals with purple-striped undersides. Pleasant fragrance, average hardiness, flowers from an early age.

Parentage: Magnolia "Mark Jury" x (Magnolia x soulangeana "Lennei Alba) .
Habit: upright tree.
Height: 6-8m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7a.
