Magnolia "Black Beauty"


A magnolia hybrid with unusual flowers. Smoky purple color of outer tepals combines with some bronze tones while interior is creamy. Plant is quite compact, summer foliage is rich dark green.
Selected in Brooklyn Botanical Garden (New York, USA).

Botanical name: Magnolia x "Black Beauty".
Other names: Magnolia x brooklynensis "Black Beauty", Magnolia x brooklynensis #204, BBG #204.
Parentage: M.acuminata x M.liliiflora.
Habit: big bush or compact tree.
Height: 5-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 5a.
Flowering time: April - May.
