Magnolia "Exotic Star"


Rare evergreen hybrid of Siebold's magnolia and Southern magnolia, bred and selected by Dennis Ledvina (Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA). Floriferous, starts blooming from young age. Flowers resemble magnolia grandiflora, but have pink stamens. Large subtropical leaves have rust-colored indumentum. Quite weak hardiness.

Parentage: Magnolia sieboldii x Magnolia grandiflora "Russet".
Habit: medium-sized tree.
Height: 4-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7b.
Flowering time: June - July.
