Magnolia "Ian's Red"



Selected by Ian Baldick (Drury, South Auckland, New Zealand). "Cup and saucer" shaped flowers are 20-30 cm in diameter, less ruby, more red (especially in milder climates). Quite hardy, floriferous, blooming late in season.

Botanical name: Magnolia x "Ian's Red".
Parentage: Magnolia "Pickard’s Ruby" x Magnolia "Vulcan".
Habit: upright tree.
Height: 5-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 6a.
Flowering time: April - May.
