Magnolia "Apollo"

Exceptionally floriferous hybrid selected by Felix Jury (Taranaki, New Zealand).
Mother tree first flowered as a two year old seedling. Flowers are star-shaped, large, up to 23cm diameter. Early flowers are violet with paler inner petals; later flowers are a deep rose pink.

Botanical name: Magnolia x "Apollo".
Parentage: .M.liliiflora "Nigra" x M. campbellii subsp. mollicomata "Lanarth".
Habit: large shrub or small tree.
Height: 5-6m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7a.
Flowering time: April - May and July - August.
