Magnolia "Samuel Sommer"

A hardy and exceptionally large-flowered cultivar of Magnolia grandiflora, first described in "American Nurseryman" in May 1961. Large evergreen leaves are very glossy and prominently veined above, rusty-brown hairy beneath. Pure white flowers can reach up to 35cm (!) in diameter. Beautiful citrus fragrance.

Habit: pyramidal tree.
Height: 5-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7a and warmer parts of USDA zone 6b.
Flowering time: June - August.
