Magnolia "Atlas"

This hybrid produces probably the largest flowers of all magnolias in subgenus Yulania. Huge, cup-shaped, lilac pink flowers with creamy-white interior can reach up to 35cm in diameter! Fragrant. Flowers from an early age. Good specimen tree for small gardens. Needs wind-protected location.

Parentage: M."Mark Jury" x (M. x soulangeana "Lennei").
Habit: upright tree when young, becoming more rounded with age.
Height: 5-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 6b and warmer parts of USDA zone 6a.
Flowering time: April - May (March - April in warmer climates).
