Magnolia "Lanarth"

This is extremely beautiful and somewhat mysterious magnolia. Mother tree was grown from seeds collected in the wild and it comes true from the seed, just like a botanical species, not hybrid. There is a separate population of "Lanarth"-like  magnolias in the wild. Some specialists suggest to consider so called "Lanarth group" as a separate species, not a part of Magnolia campbellii subsp. mollicomata
Big cyclamen colored flowers produced early in the season. Unfortunately, low hardiness.

Botanical name: Magnolia campbellii subsp. mollicomata "Lanarth".
Parentage: a seedling grown from seeds collected by George Forrest in 1924 from NW Yunnan Province, on the Salween-Kiu Chiang Divide.
Habit: upright tree.
Height: 10-15m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 8a.
Flowering time: March - April.
