One of the hardiest Asian evergreen magnolias (formerly Michelia species), compact tree with pale gray bark, leathery foliage, and white flowers 10-15 cm across.
Floriferous, fragrant. Originates from China (Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Hunan, Zhejiang).
Botanical name: Magnolia maudiae.
Other names: Michelia maudiae.
Habit: upright tree.
Height: 8-10m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7b and warmer parts of USDA zone 7a..
Flowering time: March - April.
