Magnolia "Bracken's Brown Beauty"



One of the most cold-hardy cultivars of evergreen Magnolia grandiflora, able to withstand winter temperatures down to -30C. . Discovered, registered and patented by Ray Bracken (Easley, South Carolina, USA) in 1968.
"BBB" has dense pyramidal habit, dark green leathery leaves with undulating margins and rusty brown underneath,.and creamy white flowers 12-15 cm in diameter. Both flowers and leaves are somewhat smaller than the typical grandiflora size. 

Botanical name: Magnolia grandiflora "Bracken's Brown Beauty".
Other names: Magnolia grandiflora "BBB".
Habit: compact pyramidal tree.
Height: 5-7m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 6b in Europe, zone 5b in Northern America.
Flowering time: June-July.
