Originated from China, "Yellow River" is one of the best yellow-flowered cultivars. Compact deciduous tree starts producing big pale yellow flowers in April and goes well into May or even first days of June with pure white flowers.

Other names: Magnolia "Fei Huang", Magnolia denudata "Yellow River".
Parentage: unknown. Some Chinese botanists consider this cultivar as a yellow form of M.denudata. Another point of view: it is a hybrid M.acuminata ssp.subcordata x M.denudata.
Habit: compact tree.
Height: 5-6m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 5a.
Flowering time: April - May.
