Magnolia "Black Tulip"

One of the darkest gems from New Zealand, "Black Tulip" has goblet-shaped, heavy textured flowers to 15cm across that are a beautiful port-wine red color, more intense than "Vulcan", its seed parent. Blooms freely from a young age in the middle of the season.

Parentage: M."Vulcan" x M."Iolanthe".
Habit: compact tree.
Height: 5-6m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7a and warmer parts of USDA zone 6b.
Flowering time: April - May.
