Magnolia delavayi

Evergreen Chinese species (Guizhou, south Sichuan and Yunnan), usually grown for its ornamental leathery matt foliage. Flowers are creamy-white, fragrant, cup-shaped, short-lived (usually two nights only).
Grows well in alkaline soils. 

Botanical name: Magnolia delavayi.
Other names: Chinese evergreen magnolia, Delavay's magnolia.
Habit: upright dense tree, often multistemmed.
Height: 6-8m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 8a.
Flowering time: April - June.
