Magnolia wieseneri


Wiesener's magnolia (formerly known as Watson's magnolia) is a hybrid between M.obovata and M.sieboldii. Originated from Japan, it is a small tree with large fragrant flowers and fruity perfume. Flowers look like a Magnolia sieboldii on steroids.

Botanical name: Magnolia x wieseneri.
Other names: Wiesener's magnolia, Watson's magnolia, Magnolia watsonii, Magnolia x watsonii.
Parentage: M.obovata x M.sieboldii.
Habit: compact tree, rounded to conical.
Height: 4-5m.
HardinessUSDA zone 6a. Some cultivars are half-zone hardier.
Flowering time: May - June.
