Magnolia acuminata

One of the biggest and most hardy magnolia species, native to North America. Unlike most magnolias, M.acuminata flowers are not showy. They are typically small, yellow-green (sometimes bluish), and borne high in the tree. However, there are more decorative cultivars of this species.

Botanical name: Magnolia acuminata.
Other names: cucumber tree, cucumber magnolia, blue magnolia.
Habit: upright tree.
Height: 8-10m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 4a, plus warmer parts of USdA zone 3b in North America.
Flowering time: May - July (April - June in warmer climates).
