This variety is distributed in Nepal, Sikkim, and Bhutan. It is deciduous shrubby tree, somewhat more hardy than Magnolia sargentiana. Flowers are very large (25-30cm across), pale pink with long rosy stamens. Fragrant, blooms early in the season. , Magnolia sargentiana var. robusta and its cultivars tend to be biennial flowering with heavy and light bloom years.
