Magnolia grandiflora



Medium-sized evergreen tree with pale brown or gray bark, big leathery glossy leaves and large white fragrant flowers (up to 25 or even 30 cm in diameter). Native to south-eastern part of North America and widely cultivated as an ornamental and for timber in mild climates all over the world.

Other names: Southern magnolia.
Habit: broad tree.
Height: 5-8m.
Hardiness: USDA zone 7a in Europe, 6a in North America. Some cultivars are half-zone hardier.
Flowering time: June - July.
